"Lack of care of my mother"

About: Good Hope Hospital / General surgery

(as a relative),

My mother is sat in a wheel chair in day surgery waiting for an operation at Goodhope hospital. We have been here 3 hours, mom arriving from her care home, I was to meet and admit her ( no one is allowed to accompany her into hospital has stated on the appointment letter) I was expected to get her ready for surgery when I explained that I am unable to lift her we were just left!

I am not blaming the nurses, or should I say nurse, there was only one, she was covering post ops & admissions! I could not leave my mother as she has a high risk of falling! I am totally appalled at the lack of staff and in turn this affects the level of care.

I feel when you get old you are ignored, this is apparent at good hope hospital from day care surgery to post op care where my mother was previously and needed to stay for a couple of weeks. Again there  didn't seem to be enough staff and I saw patients sat on bed pans for up to an hour! My mother's charts were completed but tasks were not actually done. I witnessed nurse completing chart to say she had turned my mother! When I confronted her to ask why when she hadn't moved her she replied but I will do later! Really! I am disgusted with the staffing and lack of care of my mother.
