"Mother of 2 concerned about lack of local services"

About: Royal Hampshire County Hospital

(as the patient),

I live in Chandlers ford, Hampshire. My heart sinks when one of my children or myself becomes unwell on a Saturday or a Sunday. There is no local GP services around. NHS direct advise you to travel to another city for the nearest out of hours care (Winchester or Southampton). This is not easy for those with no transport or a sick child with other children to care for. We need local services . All our local services have been taken away. I have left my child sick over the weekend due to the distance, parking, long waiting times of these inadequate out of hours services which is unfair on the most vulnerable. Not everyone can afford a taxi to another city so they see can a GP at the weekend. It also means that some are using the ambulance service as a taxi ride to get the treatment they need which would be more cost effectively provided by implementation of better local services for all. This must change and people must have services that they can access or they will miss out on health care. Unlike some, we have paid our taxes and expect a better service from the NHS instead of our money wasted on frivolous schemes else where. We need to get our basic health care sorted out first as a top priority for the NHS.
