"Fantastic birth experience in the Waterlily Centre"

About: The Queen Elizabeth Hospital / Maternity

I recently gave birth at the Waterlily Birthing Centre and cannot recommend it enough. My first son was a water birth and I really wanted to have this experience again so was very pleased to find out that the Queen Elizabeth had a birthing centre (we've only just moved to the area). Upon arrival, I was greeted with warmth and caring, every single person I came in to contact with from midwife to food service people were so lovely and nice. I felt so looked after - water was offered, toast was brought to me, I was listened to, etc. It's often the little things that help make an experience and everything about the day I was there made it a great one. The room was lovely - great lighting, fresh, clean, great decor, etc. It was comfortable and very private. I loved being able to have the option of the pool as well as a large bean bag for comfort. The midwife I had was amazing - they were such a great coach! I had a good first experience with my first birth at another hospital but this experience was just about 10 times better - they were really there for me and helped me towards the end when I felt like I couldn't go on! If you have a low risk pregnancy and you want to try something like a water birth, definitely give the Waterlily a look - you will not be disappointed.

Thank you for posting such a wonderful comment about the Waterlily Birthing Centre and your experience of having your second baby here with us. It was great to hear that you had such a positive experience and that you found not only the new Centre a comfortable and relaxing place to give birth but that the midwife gave you the care, support and encouragement you needed at the time. I am sure that the staff will be pleased to read your lovely comments about the Birthing Centre and to see your recommendation to other future mums. With every good wish to you and your new baby.
