My colon cancer was discovered because of the national postal home test. I was quickly dealt with in receiving further test which confirmed my cancer. Within a few weeks, I had my operation at Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy Fife. The care I received from beginning to end was absolutely superb and I cannot praise the whole team involved highly enough, from my surgeon Mr Boyce down to the cleaners and tea ladies. Everyone was so caring and professional through out I am now going through chemo for 6 months.

Dear DUNDONALD57

I was sorry to learn of your recent bowel cancer diagnosis and that you needed surgery and are now having chemotherapy. You have had a lot to deal with and I am grateful that you have taken the time to post on Patient Opinion.

Your post highlights the importance of taking part in the Scottish Bowel Screening Programme as this is the most effective way of detecting bowel cancer in the pre cancerous or early stages, when there are often no obvious symptoms.

It was lovely to read that you have been happy with your care throughout your journey and I will gladly pass on your post to our bowel screening service and Mr Boyce and his team.

I hope that you continue to recover well following your surgery and I wish you all the best through the next stages of your treatment.
