"I suffered an allergic reaction ..."

About: Furness General Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I suffered an allergic reaction and was admitted via ambulance and A and E whilst on holiday in the Lake District. The staff were amazing - they kept me informed at all times and were kind and reassuring, even though they were clearly very busy. I felt that I received really good care and that helped me to feel a lot better about the whole incident. As an example, on being admitted to the MAU, even though it was the middle of the night a nurse found me toiletries and a nightgown as I had nothing but the clothes I stood up in. The staff on ward 7A, where I spent a couple of days, were fantastic and I cannot thank them enough. I am very grateful. Furness General struck me as a really good local hospital, where patients were treated with professionalism and real kindness

What could be improved

The food! I also hated being on a mixed ward in the MAU but I understand why that is necessary.

Thank you for your kind comments Christina; we will pass them onto the staff involved.

We place great value in the fact that local people continue to choose our hospitals and we openly encourage patients and visitors to give us their feedback. This will enable us to continually to improve the services we offer and the experience our patients have whilst in our hospitals.
