My husband had an appointment which took 3 hrs at the Retinal Clinic they were running late which meant he was seen at 17.05. We were informed by the doctor that a scan was required as the surgery had not gone as well as expected. However, even tho' the clinic was still running everyone had gone home The Scan department just leave at 5 regardless of patients, all reception staff had left! Then the doctor needed to prescribe eye drops but yes you've guessed the pharmacy closed at 5 olck.
If this were a business it would not survive who in their right mind would return. We also had the added insult of having to pay extortionate parking costs for spending over 3 hours for an appointment! Now we just have to wait for a letter to give a follow up appointment for the scan, we can then look forward to going through it all again.!!!!
The appointment lines are also NEVER answered I have tried on several occasions to get through. You simply just hang on forever listening to a recordeing telling you that your call is important to them. You can try for hours then get a new message saying the department is now closed!!! Yet they constantly tell us how much missed appointments cost the NHS. Are we suppose to use ESP to tell them we cant make it!!!
