"My sons knee pain"

About: NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service) Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance St John's Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a relative),

My 23 yr old son suffered sudden severe and inexplicable pain in his left knee. He plays football, it may be related to that. The experience meant he needed and received...NHS24, GP, ambulance, A&E, X-ray, analgesia, crutches..there will be physio & if required, an MRI scan if it doesn't get better.

Thank you to the GP and practice nurse at Strathbrock HC, the West Lothian ambulance guys, and the St Johns Hospital (Livingston) A&E staff.

This is just one of the many positive experiences my family and I have received over the years. I love our #ScottishNHS

Dear Starry Towers

I was sorry to learn that your son experienced knee pain and I do hope that the treatment he is receiving is helping. Let's hope it's not too long before he is back playing football. I do wish your son a full and speedy recovery.

Your story is an excellent example of NHS services working together to ensure that a patient receives the correct assistance and treatment to manage their symptoms. Thank you for specifically mentioning NHS 24 as we very much welcome feedback on the service we provide to patients and their families. I am sure my colleagues within the wider NHS will be pleased to read your positive comments also.

Should you wish to provide any further detail to NHS 24, then I would be pleased to hear from you. I can be contacted on 0141 337 4582 or by email at patient.affairs@nhs24.scot.nhs.uk

Thanks again for sharing your story. I wish both you and your son well.

With kind regards

Shona
