"A&E visit"

This is just a quick e-mail to say thank you.

My son was a patient via your A & E Department on Saturday 24th September (he is currently studying at Reading University).

He had hurt his leg rather badly, but as he has a prosthetic knee and femur as a result of bone cancer when he was 14, he and I were very worried.

On the down-side I don’t know how you cope with such a small reception area to your A&E department.

We were there at 7 p.m. on Saturday evening – I can’t imagine what it is like later on a Saturday!

But on the up-side he was seen very quickly by the triage nurse and once he was admitted through and seen by a nurse, his care was exceptional.

The nurse who dealt with my son was fantastic – I wish I had taken their name.

The nurse dealt with us quickly, professionally yet with great care and understanding.

The nurse understood the situation perfectly and quickly got my son x-rayed and contacted a Doctor whom they knew had worked at Stanmore hospital, where my son is under their care.

This doctor, again whose name I didn’t get, was brilliant also.

I reiterate my thanks, but also I would like to say whatever we hear in the news about the NHS and hospitals and staff, what really counts is the people who work there.

Without dedicated, amazing nurses and doctors the NHS would be nowhere.
