"Still Waiting For an Appointment. Last Year..."

About: Clatterbridge Hospital

Last September (2015) I was due my 3 monthly check up following a Glansectomy in 2014. I rang because I had not received a letter and was told the consultant was very busy and they were hopefully doing an extra clinic in 2-3 weeks subject to management approval. Each time I waited the 2-3 weeks and after hearing nothing, I'd ring again and be told the same thing. I felt let down and I was just being fobbed off with excuses every time. By December, 3 months after the check up should have taken place and twice the interval told to me by the specialist I could stand it no longer and contacted the specialist direct to arrange to pay see them privatey. The 3 month wait and the excuses told to me by the person I spoke to on the phone caused me a massive amount of worry and stress and had an impact on my work and private life due to the worry of not knowing if there was a problem that had developed, had there been a problem it may well have been too late to have sorted it out. I was due the same check up last month (August 2016) which never happened, I rang 2 weeks ago and was told exactly the same thing as last year, they did, however, offer me an appointment in November (3 months late again) I just feel that I am being fobbed off again and my life is worthless to them. This is causing me the same amount of worry and is affecting me the same as it did last year. I find now, it is difficult to even pick the phone up because I have a good idea what will be said to me. Initially I had no complaints back in 2014 when the condition was diagnosed and the initial treatment was started but since then I just feel pushed to the back of the queue. The one star rating for dignity and respect refers to the way my telephone calls about late check-us have been handled and not in any way the consultant I have seen who has been fantastic
