"A huge thank you to all"

About: Huddersfield Royal Infirmary / General surgery

I was contacted last minute and asked if I wanted to fill in a space to have an umbilical hernia fixed. I of course said yes. From the pre op assessment to discharge my treatment was professional, courteous, caring, and efficient. A massive, massive thank you to the men and women behind the masks in the operating theatre. I couldn't have felt safer or in better hands. When I had an unexpected funny turn, the team knew exactly what to do, how to handle both me and the situation, and reassured that everything was totally under control. Recovery, before being taken to the ward was just as good. My designated nurse was very professional, engaging in conversation but still watching very carefully to make sure that I was as comfortable as possible. Once on the ward, all the staff , from the assistant health carers, cleaners, nurses, and doctors did a great job. I couldn't have asked for more. The only fault I had was not down to the staff per se, but down to staffing numbers. It was very obvious that there was a staff shortage during the handover. From 19.00hrs to 20.00hrs, an hour, the ward was virtually understaffed. I wasn't needing assistance during this time, but if I had, they would have struggled. But I wish to finish on a high note. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
