What I liked

I liked the fact that certainly in the High Dependency Unit i was so well looked after and kept informed about what was happening and what treatment, etc I had had whilst I had been there. At waht was a very frightening and stressful time for me I know that any concerns of mine were taken seriously despite the fact that often I was having drug induced hallucinations. I would like to thank all the staff who looked after me during my 2 months in Heartlands as they made my hourney so much easier. Whilst at times all the moving about was frustrating and I did find that sometimes people did not read my notes and so did not understand fully my case, this was mainly with Drs and the nurses who looked after me were all fantastic. Having had such a positive experience at Heartlands and having survived I have now decided that I would like to look into a nursing careeer.

What could be improved

Drs attention to details when dealing with somebody who is not their patient but on their ward. This would have saved me any distress as often a dr who I did not know would try and discharge me while I was still being treated and it was quite apparent that very often they had ab solutely no idea what illness I had had or what treatment I was receiving.

Anything else?

Again I would like to thank all the drs, surgeons and especially the nurses and health care assistants who looked after me in Intensive Care, High dependency Unit, Ward 24, 26 and 25 I think all were responsible for my much better than expected recovery.
