"Mini stroke"

I went to A&E at approx 9am on 23rd sept 2016.

I had a mini stroke.

I was seen by a lovely doctor.

But I then had to wait hours for a brain scan as the doctor had electronically made a referral for my scan but didn't realise that you also had to make a phone call for it too.

Once I had recieved the scan I was then made to wait in a cubicle worth other patients for 3 hours, before I called a nurse who told me they would check my notes and see what was going on. They do and said your waiting for a bed on the assessment medical ward.

I told them that no one had given me scan results or told me what was wrong with me or that I was staying the night. They apologised and went back to check with a medic.

Over a hour later I was then put on a bed In AMU ward.

But then had to wait a further 3 hours for a medic to see me only to rush through my notes, Tell me was going home after a blood test and that I had had a TIA (mini stroke).

It was hand over time so they were rushing to see me.

After another hour I called a nurse and mentioned the blood test (they knew nothing about it as the doctor had not told them) they went to check my notes and told me I was right - it should have been done by now.

I also said the doctor said they would give me painkillers- still not had any. An hour later I had my blood taken but still no pain Relief had been prescribed for my throbbing g headache.

3 hours later the nurse (priompted by me) asked another doctor to prescribe me painkillers.

They said they would do it immediately.

And hour later still wasn't prescribed.

So from entering Tameside hospital at 9am by 2am I agreed with the nurse in charge that I would buy my own ibruprofen and paracetamols if they prescribed the aspirin and stomach upset medication.

They agreed as said I would only have to wait another few hours for the prescription to be prescribed.

I was told at 8.30 pm that o would be sent home within the hour (they needed the bed) but was not discharged until 2am.

And that was only because I kept asking and prompting staff who had not passed messages on about my care and what needed to be done.

I kept asking are you keeping me in it am I going home.

And I did not get proper answers.

I came in with a mini stroke and severe headaches and the whole time I was there I was stressed and prompting staff who kept forgetting I was there.

Can't say the expletive made me feel any better and probably added to the headaches!
