"The ambulance staff were really ..."

About: Luton & Dunstable Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

The ambulance staff were really good and comforting.

What could be improved

Everything. Was taken to A&E after suffering serious stomach pains on the motorway with my young family. On my own in a hopsital and town i did not know the experience could not be worse.

I was in a huge amount of pain (most probably due to gall stones) and left to roll around in the waiting room with a drunk who had to be escorted. The triage nurses were like robots. The nurse who administered my meds did not tell me I may react and when I became dizzy and nearly fainted she left me alone in the cubicle and returned to the nurses station. My distressed cries for help were ignored by all the nurses who milled around the nurses station. Total lack of compassion or caring. A stranger in the street would show more humanity. Scary.

Anything else?

The doctor who treated me was kind and polite.

We are sorry to hear that you had an unsatisfactory visit to the Emergency area. In order to ensure that the issue can be addressed properly it would help us to have more detail. This will help us to identify whether you attended the clinic for minor injuries, which is run by a separate urgent care provider provided by the local PCT, or if you were seen by the A&E run by the L&D hospital. You can mail directly to PALS@ldh.nhs.uk with this information and we can then ensure that it is routed correctly.
