"Unbelievablely brilliant care"

About: Countess Of Chester Hospital / Cardiology

My grandad was transferred to the coronary ward on Wednesday having spent a few hours in a&e. He had been found early that morning at home with low blood pressure and low oxygen levels. Sadly, at the age of 92 his body was unresponsive to the attempts made to raise his blood pressure. The decision was made to withdraw treatment, at this point we knew granddaddy passing was imminent and that it was just a matter of time before he left us. It is now early on Sunday, grandads has been on the coronary ward for nearly 72 hours. The treatment that he has received has been brilliant, the staff here are superb and are a credit to the nhs. They are not only concerned with the welfare of their patients but also the relatives, particularly grandads wife who has been a near constant at his bedside. Despite the well documented funding cuts the nhs has suffered, the coronary ward at the countess of Chester hospital are still managing to provide care that I would expect to witness at a private hospital. This is a personally thank you to everyone that has contributed to my grandads care. I expect that he will pass in the next 48 hours, it will be the most dignified and peaceful passing imaginable, all thanks to the staff here. DT
