My husband and I had to visit the MIU, Friday the 23 of Sept, for suspected fracture to my big toe. I was immediately made at ease by the wonderful bedside manner of the receptionist. I do wish I could remember their name as I believe they deserve to be recognised for their cheerful disposition, as well as the kind, empathetic manner, in which they treated every patient I observed them interact with during my wait. It makes all the difference when you are in pain, to be greeted and treated in a compassionate, encouraging manner by an individual enthusiastic about their service. The facility was spotless and fresh, despite the number of people/children inhabiting the waiting area. The wait was a bit on the long side, but that is to be expected on a Friday when the MIU waiting room is quite full with casualties. However, as busy as the MIU was, all the nurses and radiologists were kind, caring, and made you feel you were the only patient in the unit. As the x-ray revealed my bone had a tricky fracture, I was referred to John Radcliffe and the nurses secured an appointment for me first thing in the morning.
It was overall, a very pleasant experience for a decidedly unpleasant injury.
