What I liked
The day and night nursing staff were excellent. They were attentive and approachable. Well done!
What could be improved
The doctors however, were nealy invisible. I briefly saw a doctor before my heart operation, but no one explained to me after the operation what took place, or if the operation was straight forward and went as planned.
It was only when I read my hospital discharge notes (at home) that I read that I have a second defect that I need to go back for to be closed.
Why has no one spoken to me about this?
Anything else?
Also, it has now been 6 weeks since I had my operation and I have not been contacted for a follow up appointment by my Consultant, my GP or the doctor at Basildon.
It appears that once the operation is over, Basildon washes its hands of you and doesn't bother to check up if everything is OK.
