"I was referred to Broomfield hospital ..."

About: Broomfield Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was referred to Broomfield hospital by harlow hospital. Due to cuts on my wrists. I had day surgery and was placed in moonbeam ward. The nurses were brilliant and caring. They came over and had a chat and really put me at ease and made me feel welcome. My surgeon came to see me and explained the procedure what he was going to do, tendon repair. Later the anesthetist came and explained his part in my operation. I felt very informed and confident about the care that i was going to get while i was being operated on. I am very fussy with my food and i informed the nursing staff of this. I got offered cereal for after my operation and ordered a desert. But when it came i could not eat it because i had not had my operation yet. they kept it in the fridge. After my operation i got my food and they re heated my desert.

I would like to stress how good the nurses were on my ward.

I then had to have 3 follow ups with my surgeon at Broomfield i got letters written to me regally reminding me of my appointments. I could not make one appointment, i found it very easy to change it to another time.

The overall the hospital environment was extremely clean. And i think everyone who works in the hospital should be extremely proud of their contribution they put into such a great hospital.

What could be improved

I think that the signs in the hospital could be improved as it was very easy to get lost.
