About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Cardiology

My husband was referred to the hospital with chest pains on Tuesday by his GP. Having gone through the normal checks, blood pressure each etc.

He was eventually seen by a registrar who informed him that he was to have a rotablation. This was complete news to him as he thought he was on the waiting list for a stent.

The registrar said he must stay in hospital for his own safety, but the only surgeon who performs this procedure was away till the following week.

After 9 days in hospital he eventually is taken for his procedure and while having the angiogram is informed that he doesn't need a stent, much less a rotablation. Nine wasted days in hospital, nine days of NHS funds wasted.

Total lack of information from anyone during the stay, in fact hardly saw a doctor at all.

No one knew anything about his case, or if they did were not about to share it with him.

No discussion about what the procedure would be like . Various meds changed, without and discussion. Very unsettling.

Well looked after in terms of accommodation ( a private room). Fed and medication given but no information.
