"One or two nurses who seemed to ..."

About: Whipps Cross University Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

One or two nurses who seemed to care, the rest drag their feet and are rude.

What could be improved

My father had a stroke and was transferred to whipps last week. I was hopeful as the first 3 days are the critical ones. I am now worried if he will actually survive being on the ward due to the poor care, dirty conditions and uncaring staff. The nurses do not wash their hands between patients. I have at no point been told anything about what is going on even after asking to speak to a doctor on 3 occasions. In the end i stopped one in the corridor who said that unless i ask i don't get told anything. This doctor was then incapable of answering any questions anyway. I am at my wits end. Its now not about my fathers rehabilitation but if he is going to survive being on this ward. Simple as that, and the worst thing is i don't think he will.

Do you complain and then worry about how is treated because you complained? or do you keep quiet and hope for the best?

CLENLINESS Never seen the wards moped or smelt bleach being used.

NURSES WASHING THEIR HANDS WHEN MEANT TO. Hardly ever see them washing hands between patients

RUDE STAFF. If they don't like their job they should not do it.

LACK OF INFORMATION. Never told what is going on.

NO COMMUNICATION BETWEEN STAFF.

One will say one thing then another would say something different.

Anything else?

When you speak to a doctor you expect them to know what they are talking about.
