My daughter attended nurse led Minor Injuries' clinic of New Victoria Hospital Glasgow since I believed this to be the correct facility for her injury according to NHSGGC literature. She had a painful foot after recent athletics event and we suspected a stress fracture. The nurse in charge while teaching a nurse student stated that because the injury was not the product of an acute event (though it might have been due to running over rough ground) no examination would be performed and no x-ray would be taken. A lecture on exposure to radiation followed and my daughter and I were told to go to an A&E department if we were concerned. I specifically asked if the nurse would look at my daughter's foot but they declined to even look and we left without removal of her shoe and sock. A stress fracture was eventually diagnosed by podiatry and confirmed by x-ray.
