"My time as a patient on ward 111 in the ARI"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Infectious Diseases

(as the patient),

I would like to let the staff on ward 111 know of my gratitude to them all for their round the clock care. I have been a patient for almost three weeks and feel that I'd like others and staff know how I feel regarding my care and treatment. I was admitted to the ward due to my ill health which may I add is due to my own stupidity and neglectfulness towards myself, without too much detail I was admitted with a few worrying issues, I've had a number of issues for throughout my life culminating in me being a drug user due to past events in my childhood which led to me trying to block out my mental n physical pain by the use of numerous drug use.

Whilst on the ward I at no time ever felt the staff ever looked at me differently due to my own stupidity which I thought they would due to my drug use. I can only hold every single member of the team in high regard, they were all very kind, polite caring, extremely patient with me as I know I can be a pain. I would like to say a special thanks to every single one of the team, day, night junior, senior, doctor, hca also a few in particular Karen, Debbie, Ross, Leanne, Jacqui, Andy, Mike, Sharon, Maree and Dr Mackenzie in particular I can't name you all but I'd like to thank you all for your help kindness and care and I am ever grateful and whoever disagrees can bolt coz your all ace everyone of you sorry I can't name all but I mean all of you, many thanks.

Dear SJ5,

Please accept my apologies for the time it has taken to respond to your story – it was posted at a time when we were changing our responding structure and it was missed.

Even though it’s been a while since you posted your kind comments, the team in ward 111 will appreciate you taking the time to let them know that they made such a difference to your stay in hospital. Karen, Debbie, Ross, Leanne, Jacqui, Andy, Mike, Sharon, Maree and Dr Mackenzie in particular will be delighted to be mentioned.

All our staff aim to provide person centred care – as you have described - to all patients, no matter what their background, and I’m gladdened to hear that you felt their kindness and patience helped you when you needed it.

Thanks again and best wishes,

Kirsten
