"A&E chaos"

About: Heartlands Hospital / Accident and emergency

My partner has a condition that requires he attend A&E when his condition flares up so he can get emergency treatment bearing in mind he was diagnosed in 2012 it's absolute pot luck everytime we attend, although he has a care plan on the system which no one bothers to read it's the same disorganised chaos each time he has to attend, he's been made to feel like an opiate addict, staff are unattentive, rude, it's pot luck treatment if he's lucky someone will recognise him and help otherwise he is left to vomit and roll around in severe pain, everyone deserves fair treatment but there should be some system in place for patients with pre-existing conditions, again sometimes a ray of light is shone and a lovely member of staff will treat him with care and dignity but it's too far and few between.

dirty hospital, overworked and aggressive staff. after travelling to Amsterdam where he's condition re-occurred the treatment he received was second to none.

Dear Anonymous

thank you for your comments regarding your partner's patient experience in our Accident and Emergency Department at Heartlands Hospital.

I am disappointed and sorry to note the details of your post and would very much like the opportunity to speak with your or your partner directly to obtain some more information. This will enable me to investigate appropriately.

I can be contacted either by email: marie.helebert@nhs.net or by telephone on: 0121 424 0808 9am - 2pm Monday to Friday, with a voicemail service in operation at all other times. Your call will be returned at the earliest opportunity.

I hope this is acceptable and I look forward to hearing from you at your convenience.

Kind regards

Marie Helebert
