"Doctor needs to listen to his patients"

I have chronic kidney disease stage 4 and a couple of weeks ago went to see a consultant at the Alexander hospital with regard to an ongoing eye problem.

I felt like the consultant disregarded and flippantly dismissed my concerns with regard the steroidal nasal spray he prescribed for me and not even reassuring me by checking in the medicines reference book for contra-indications for patients with kidney disease. In my opinion he made disparaging remarks to me about my very caring GP as "just a GP", as if his attempts to help me were futile. The result of taking this spray has had a very detrimental effect on my health, my soft palate, uvula, face, eyes all swelled, restricting my breathing. It caused me to have head pain, (I think it obviously affected my kidney function as I had a build up of uric acid causing my knees to redden, swell and become very painful). At this point I called a doctor who told me to stop taking the spray immediately. I subsequently had a kidney function test, which showed that although my general filtration rate had been stable for 3 months, it had now fallen by 3%.

I think this consultant needs to know that his off-hand manner of treating me and what I felt was his lack of consideration for all the details concerning my health and kidney disease, I believe has caused me to be ill for a few weeks. This has resulted in un-repairable damage, a great deal of pain and stress.

I would just hope that listening to my comments would encourage this doctor to listen to his patients, treating them with due respect and care rather than I think just basing his treatment solely on his own opinion.
