"laparoscopy, hysteroscopy and dye"

About: Princess Anne Hospital / Gynaecology

I was told in April 2016 I would need the above op to discover why I had pains and was not able to conceive. I was told the wait would be 18 weeks and I had my appointment after 20 weeks (perfectly acceptable!) I was nervous on the day, purely because I was scared nothing would be found. My appointment was on saturday at 7.45am. I was third on the list that day and went to theater at 10.30am. The whole process from arrival to discharge was a lot better then anticipated. I was well looked after, staff were lovely and professional and the ward was clean and comfortable! I met the surgeon and anethatist who were reassuring and explained everything in detail. Waking up from my op, I was told I had endometriosis removed and had 4 incisions. After drinking, eating and urinating I was allowed home. The day was quicker and easier then I could have expected (home by 2.00pm) and the outcome was very positive for me! The only thing for me was that it wasn't made clear to me that the last time I was to see my husband was when they called me in to prep me for surgery at 7.45am. I thought he would be allowed to wait with me until I was called down to theater at 10.30! he wasn't aware either so spent hours sat waiting and wondering what was going on! Not a big deal at all but this could have been made a little clearer :) All in all, although feeling sore and bloated today (2 days after surgery) I feel happy and satisfied and would reassure anyone going in to the day surgery unit, you will be well cared for! Well done to the unit and staff, and thankyou!!

Thank you for taking the time to provide such positive feedback. I am pleased to hear that the procedure went well and that you were well cared for.

I will pass your feedback onto the manager for that area and am sure that they will aslo welcome your feedback regarding communication. I can appreciate that not knowing what was happening must have been difficult for you and your husband and I am sorry that on this occassion we did not get it quite right.

I hope that you are now fully recovered from your surgery.

Kind Regards
