In my opinion, my GP has probably the worst communication skills I have ever experienced. I put it down to poor communication instead of the more frightening to me - lack of concern, poor quality.
When I was first diagnosed as a diabetic, he said to me, "Ah you are now a big problem to the NHS". I felt that I was now a burden to his surgery.
I feel like he never tells me what’s going on - he just sits behind the desk and it seems to me makes sure that I feel really small. The advice he gave me was completely contradictory to what I have read on diabetes UK. I felt like I was basically left to fend for myself on which treatments were proven and which ones were opinions.
I looked at NHS Choices - see what your doctor sees (I think it’s called Map of Medicine) and took that in to show him. He glanced at it and then I felt like he ignored it.
I would change my GP but there is no choice in my area. I also feel like I can’t complain as I don’t have another choice so feel I am stuck with what I feel is a really poor service.
