"Stent"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

After been transferred from South Tyneside with a kidney rupture through a blocked stone, I was very nervous. I certainly didn't know what to expect or what treatment I needed. All i can say is that the urology department have a fantastic group of professionals especially one of the registrars. I could not fault the nurses, Auxiliary nurses who saved me from boredom and hunger. The cleaners (sorry if you have a more posh name) who never stopped. And dont forget the porters. Last but not least, anaesthetists, thank you for making me feel at ease even though I was terrified lol. I would certainly recommend this department. On a more negative note to a particular consultant and Doctor, the hospital is your place of work and a familiar place. To patients like myself, who has never been in hospital let alone had surgery, it is an alien environment. Talking over the patient does not help, talking at them does not help! A little empathy goes a long way.

Margaret, thank you very much for both your kind and honest words. We are very proud of the staff on our Urology Department who were able to put you at ease - your review has been shared with the team, and your encouragement will mean the world to them. Regards the less supportive aspect of your care, we can discuss this more personally. Our Help and Advice Service are in place for when there are aspects of care that could be addressed; they can be reached at Helpandadviceservice@chsft.nhs.uk or by Freephone 0800 5876513. Thank you.
