"Only saving grace was the paramedic"

About: York Hospital / Accident and emergency

A few nights ago was my second visit to York a&e and for a second time I was left feeling like I went to the wrong hospital. I left on both occasions feeling no better than when I got there. First visit in sorry to say was a miscarriage, I was taken by ambulance and the paramedics in the ambulance were amazing, made me feel so at ease given the situation and it was amazing, I wish I knew the member of staff's name because I would thank them a million times. However upon waiting 4 hours alone on a chair because apparently I didn't need a bed with the only contact being to take a blood sample, and give me some pain relief after 3 hours. They told me I had lost my baby and that was it. I found the whole thing traumatic and heartbreaking that no one but the paramedics seemed to care at all. My second visit was a few nights ago. I had some really quite bad chest pain that had been going on for 4 hours. I do have some heart problems already and was extremely worried I got to York hospital and to be fair they saw me quickly for the nurses initial assessment, despite the fact my heart rate was over 100 and my blood pressure was very high for me it then took an hour to do one ECG then they kept me a further 2 and a half hours with no pain relief offered or even explained if I couldn't have any, to tell me that they thought it was anxiety, despite the fact I am not anxious and wasn't anxious or stressed at the time the chest pain started. No further testing just sent on my way still with really bad chest pain, with one doctor insinuating I had wasted their time. I will never visit York hospital again and I implore others to stay well clear of it.
