"Appalling wait for someone in their 90s"

About: Royal Gwent Hospital / General Medicine

(as a relative),

My mother was referred to the DVT clinic from her local clinic in Cwmbran. Having arrived at the appropriate department she was sent to the assessment unit due to poor breathing. No action regarding the DVT. She is in her 90s and has suffered from this problem for a few years. She arrived at the hospital at 1. 30pm and at 11. 15pm after 2 blood tests and no real explanations, decided she could take no more waiting on an uncomfortable bench seat and decided to leave. By this time she was absolutely exhausted and the only person that seemed bothered about her was the lady behind the desk! At 7pm she had her 2nd blood test and was told the Dr would see her in a couple of hours. Four hours later there was no sign of a doctor. I find it absolutely appalling that someone in their 90s can be treated with such lack of care.
