"Shocked by post natal"

About: Hillingdon Hospital / Maternity

I can't fault the delivery team they are amazing and professional.

Post natal ward was shocking, bad environment with senior staff incredibly rude to nurses and patients . I was left in my bed in a corner in bloody sheets for 15 hours after a Emergency c section and nearly losing my baby, I was left clean sheets to make my own bed and told I should get up to u me up my baby hours after waking from having every layer of tissue and fat cut through in my stomach. At Watford hospital they treat patents with respect they also pick up the babies for c section mothers for the first few days. my Cather left to fill up into the tube!

I am appalled by what I went through in that hellish ward. Night staff refused to remove the needle in my hand for IV even though it had gone past 72 hours and it hurt so much I had to wait 6 hours until morning it was painful and exhausting. Avoid at all costs.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review online.

I am very sorry to read of your experience on the postnatal ward two years ago and I apologise that you were not treated with the care, kindness and respect that should have been.

However I can assure you that there have been many positive changes in the maternity unit since your stay. There has been a new ward manager, for the postnatal ward, appointed towards the end of last year and the number of staff members on the ward has been increased.

We have a dedicated team of midwives who ensure that practise amongst the staff is of a very high standard , as well as ensuring that all staff attend comprehensive training and updates.

We are committed to improving the patient experience of the maternity unit at Hillingdon Hospital and I feel confident that we are.

Should you feel you wish to discuss your experience further then please contact me.

Kind regards

Sarah Bell-Ryan, Maternity Matron
