About: Will Adams NHS Treatment Centre

I attended for a bowel screening procedure(I'm female) I asked at reception to be treated by a female nurse/doctor. I was told by the male nurse/doctor I should leave. This is what I did & upset as I'd specifically taken a day off work.why aren't there female staff available for such an intimate, personal procedure?

Many thanks for writing to us regarding your concerns following your Bowel Screening Appointment at Will Adams NHS Treatment Centre. As the Bowel Screening Programme isn't co-ordinated by our staff at the centre, we have asked the Bowel Screening Programme to respond with regards to your request for feedback:

"We are more than happy to provide access to a female scopist if we are aware of the patients needs in advance. Sorry that you were unable to request this on the day as by then we had allocated the Scopist and Specialist Screening Staff to the Will Adams centre for that session. If you wish to participate in screening and have a special request such as a female scopist, nursing team, or any other requirements ( such as an interpreting service) please do not hesitate to contact us in advance of your appointment date and we can arrange to accommodate your request.
