"Poor organisation"

About: Milton Keynes Hospital / Ophthalmology

The Opthamology department organisation is awful. Apart from my first appointment which was an urgent one and in the evening, subsequent appointments have been awful.

First I had to phone after three months to get an appointment, when I had been told I would receive one in the post in two.

On appointment day, there was about a 90 minute wait after the scheduled time, to have brief tests, then a further 30 minute wait to see the Doctor. The whole waiting room was full, and hot and stuffy. I can't understand how they can run so far behind the scheduled time. Talking to other patients whilst waiting, confirmed this is normal for this department, everyone who had been before allows at least 3 hours for their visit.

As it is, it has been 4 months since my last appointment, and 2 months since the orbit MRI I was sent for, and still no appointment. Guess I have to phone again.

The eye clinic needs to send its admin staff to speak to some of the other departments, where the service is so fast you don't even get a chance to sit in the waiting room at all.
