What I liked
Nothing!
What could be improved
I went in to be induced only to go into spontaneous natural labour. Midwife on duty on the induction ward did not bother checking me until 4pm that day after initial assessment (I had arrived at 8am) only to discover I was 4cm dilated and then started to panic as there were no beds available on labour ward. Moved to labour ward where things went from bad to worse. Sustained third degree tear during birth and having laboured with no pain relief other than gas and air was then taken into surgery to be repaired under spinal anaesthetic. Moved to post-natal ward. Baby left unwashed following birth for 4 days and no sheets were put on her bassinette. When I complained about this the healthcare assistant pointed me in direction of linen cabinet saying 'help yourself'. Staff on the whole (especially healthcare assistants) were unfriendly, unhelpful and completely lacking in social skills.
Anything else?
I will not be returning to this hospital for future births.
"Nothing!"
