"the midwives were fantastic! ( ..."

About: Milton Keynes Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

the midwives were fantastic! ( well all bar 1). with me and my unborn baby distressed i had 2 midwives in my room constantly monitoring us i cannot praise them enough. the doctor who eventually did my c section was great too and the anaesthetist was brilliant!

What could be improved

the ward before and after labour was VERY understaffed. they tried there hardest bit over night there was 1 midwife to like 30 ladies! also my husband was told to go home after i was induced and i had to painfully labour alone with no one at all with me and crawl out to desk to keep asking for help. 4 hrs later she came and examined me and i was 5 cm! when back from c section i was left totally to fend for myself. i had haemorraged so i had a drain too but no one did anything. this was simply because no one was there!

Anything else?

the more junior docs did not interact with the midwives or discuss my labour with me. all i kept hearing was 'give it another 4 hrs!' the midwoves looked shocked everytime, and they kept trying to tell the docs me and baby were in danger but wouldnt listen, it took the anaesthetist to come see me and call the consultant ( and not her juniors) for them to be shocked id been left so long and i had just been told to wait another 4 hrs by her junior! my ba by was born by emergency c section 15 min later and i haemorraged and then got bad infection in wound was poorly for quite some time.
