"Lack of organisation but good quality of care"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus / Breast surgery

(as the patient),

On the whole my treatment at Nottingham City Hospital during my mastectomy was caring and efficient although it was clearly annoying to one of the consultants to answer any probing questions which I found intimidating at my pre-op. Saturday am when I was to leave was chaotic- no nurse would admit to being in charge until I made a nuisance of myself on behalf of myself and another patient. Both of us had been told by the visiting consultant that we could leave on Saturday morning but we had to repeatedly ask the nurses to check this on our notes before they agreed and then they had to admit that this was correct. Luckily I was in possession of a mobile phone and could make contact with people willing and able to fetch us. There seemed to be a lack of organisation as patients waiting to go home were free to get back into just remade beds with clean sheets!
