"Wonderful hospital, Wonderful staff"

About: Blackpool Victoria Hospital / Accident and emergency

I attended A & E on Saturday 10th September after suffering with continuous headaches. I have an appointment with my GP but the headaches were getting worse and several people advised me to attend and get it checked out. From the minute I entered the hospital until I left I found the service to be exceptional. The staff were warm, caring, pleasant, helpful and despite being under considerable pressure due to the amount of people waiting to be seen I never felt rushed and they took time to listen to my concerns and to explain their findings. In fact they made me feel like I was the only patient in the hospital - which is quite a skill! I feel that we are quick to complain when things go wrong but rarely take the time to write about experiences which are good. With the NHS being in the news so much these days - and often getting berated for getting things wrong - I decided to write about my experience Staff in the NHS are worth their weight in gold. We could live without our politicians but I dread to think what life would be like without our nurses and doctors! In my opinion, junior doctors should be given everything they want and the Health secretary should hang his head in shame at what he is doing to the morale of these wonderful human beings! I congratulate BVH on getting things so right. I know my case is not a 'one off' as my husband has had two bad falls in the last two years and has exactly the same opinion as me about the hospital and the staff. So congratulations on a job well done, keep up the good work and Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the wonderful treatment I received and - on a Saturday! Someone should explain to the Health secretary that we already have an excellent 7 day service.

Dear Barbara,

Thank you for taking the time to describe your recent positive contact with Blackpool Teaching Hospitals.

It is always really great to read about how we have been able to provide the compassionate care you have described.

It is wonderful for me to read that we were able to make you feel like being

“The only patient in the hospital”

Our value for this month is People Centred and hearing about it being displayed by our Staff in their everyday activities is inspiring.

Thank you once more for taking the time to share your experience

I hope that you have continued with your recovery and wish all the best for the future.

Andrew
