"Dosed my wife up just to get her in a chair.."

About: Lister Hospital / Accident and emergency

Wife was taken in by ambulance with Altered sensation and back injury. A and E head nurse came over and said I need you to get in the chair as we don't have space to her and even the drivers said to her she can not sit up as too painful so nurse came back with codine, valium, oramorph and ibruprofen. Now you can get in chair to go off to M.I. My wife doesn't want to make a fuss as she is a nurse so is sitting in a random waiting room in tears and the same pain we came for. They should have sent hash cakes instead of an ambulance and I could of driven her. Oh but no one has checked her spine yet so I guess we don't want to do further damage.

We're sorry that you and your wife were left disappointed by your experience of the Lister's emergency department service recently.

We know that the senior clinical team would welcome discussing your concerns with you to find out more about what happened and why.

If you're happy to do that, we can put you in touch with them by emailing us at generalenquiries.enh-tr@nhs.net.
