"Visit to A&E - 09/09/2016"

What a huge positive change. It's never anyone's wish to have to visit A&E, and from prior visits I had already mentally prepared for a long long wait, uninterested staff, can't be bothered attitude! What I actually experienced was the polar opposite. Immediately I registered my details I was seen by a nurse to route me into either Major or Minor. Having been routed into Minor, I arrived had my notes taken by the Nurse and then just a short time later, a full consultation with a highly competent emergency care nurse, who had a great attitude and approach. However, needing an X-ray, I thought, ahhhh ok now comes the long wait. Not at all. Smart reception, quickly registered, directed and instructed re changing, just sat down and my name was called! Again extremely professional, friendly and competent staff, X-ray taken, and then back to minors. Waited just a short time, then seen by Nurse, whole issue explained, and referral to GP process. Given brand new crutches, and Splint for my damaged leg. Even better seeing I was struggling to walk out, unprompted a member of staff offered me a wheel chair so my wife could get me out to the new multi-storey car park in comfort. Hats off to the Lister Hosputal, great processes, great staff, made the whole experience pleasant, and with all the respect for me as a patient I'd only ever had in the private sector. A very Big Thank You.
