"Nothing on this occassion,"

About: Hull Royal Infirmary

(as a relative),

What I liked

Nothing on this occassion,

What could be improved

My husband was admitted on to the accute assessment unit and found to be suffering with angina. I took an overnight bag to his bedside out of visiting hours and was told immediatly to leave as it was not visiting time. I then returned later with my two children aged 15 and 17, we sat quietly by his bedside for 20 minutes then a nurse came along and asked one of us to go to the waiting room as it is only two visitors to a bed. My gripe was there was no other visitors in the area, we were very quiet and causing no harm to anyone. The nurse in question was not very polite or friendly in her request at all, I felt embaressed and we all ended up leaving, leaving my husband with no company. I myself was on the similar unit at castle hill a while ago and whilst there are similar rules in place there the staff were fine about my husband and children visiting. Come on Hull royal we were only going to be there 1 hour so have some consideration for visitors!!!

Anything else?

My children were upset with the news their father was suffering with this illness and were very distressed to be sent on their way by a jobsworth nurse with a poor attitude, all the other staff turned a blind eye for the first twenty minutes!!
