"Eye clinic 9"

About: University Hospital (Coventry) / Ophthalmology

My husband was referred to Clinic 9 after an appointment at the stable Glaucoma clinic

At Stoney Stanton Road on 7 September. The optometrist rang and booked him in at 2.20pm. He wasn't seen to until 5pm. The Triage nurse said it was an emergency clinic. How could he be an emergency with a booked appointment. Another person who was at Stoney Stanton was also referred. Her appointment was 3.50pm. She saw the triage nurse and the doctor. Was on her way home at 4.30pm so why did we have to wait.

Also the triage nurse did exactly what was done at Stoney Stanton. I consider that a waste of nurse time and NHS money. He just needed the doctor to sort out why he was referred there. It was complete chaos in the Climic. Several, others waiting for long periods. The treatment was excellent when he finally got it but improvements need to be made regarding emergencies and booked appointments. I do appreciate that some emergencies have to go first but it is totally unacceptable the way thing are organised.
