"The birth of our son"

About: Victoria Hospital / Maternity care

(as a relative),

I wanted to express how grateful we are for the care we received and how wonderful our experience was with Lorraine at the birth of our beautiful baby boy.

It was a birth which we weren't quite expecting, having hoped for a very natural hypnobirthing experience. However, I am still delighted with the overall experience. Lorraine was very caring, understanding and helpful. She was easily able to reassure me and my wife that we could do this. Lorraine's personable and assertive manner allowed my wife to find the strength and determination to naturally birth our son, in what was a frightening and challenging set of circumstances.

At no point did I feel left out, misunderstood or overlooked. I also felt very secure that my wife and our little boy would be okay. Even with monitors, consultants and others having to join us in the room, Lorraine made sure everything was explained to us and kept us reassured. This meant the world to me personally, as it can be quite daunting.

Our care from start to finish was fantastic. I cannot fully express how grateful I am. Thank you Lorraine for the amazing difference you made to us both, you were integral in making our experience one we can cherish instead of one which could have been very negative.

Dear HayRach

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your recent birth experience and congratulations to you and your wife on the birth of your beautiful baby boy. I responded on the day I received you posted; however I must have deleted the response and it was only when I was looking through PO this week that I noticed the response had not gone, so apologies for the delay! I did however share it with the Midwifery Team, who were delighted to receive this. Positive feedback goes a long way to boosting the morale of staff.

Birth plans do not always go as planned; however it was great to hear that despite the change in plan, both you and your wife both felt cared for, understood and reassured. We know how important it is to involve father's in the process, so it was also good to hear that you did indeed feel involved.

It is fantastic that Lorraine was able to support both you and your wife in the way you describe, creating a cherished memory which I'm sure you will treasure forever. I am sure she too will treasure your comments.

Thank you once again for taking the time out to tell us about your experience.

Kind regards

Louise Ewing
