I unfortunately had a missed miscarriage and found out at my 12 week scan. I was then refered to the brockham ward where I went through procedures of management for the miscarriage. I opted to have the surgical management of miscarriage (SMOM) on Tuesday 6th September 2016. This was such a tough time for myself and my partner and we couldn't of got through it without the support and reassurance of the team at brockham ward/EPU. We went through all the options with us the day we found out our baby stopped developing, and the nurse was very considerate of our emotions and gave us the number and told us the days they were working if we wanted to call and ask any questions. We also had another nurse who went through my pre assessment the day before my op. They were amazing, they had a caring nature to them and made us feel comfortable. They were in on the day of my op as well and came to see me to have a chat and see how I was doing once I was resting in the ward which we felt was really nice and personal. The whole day of the op went really smoothly and quickly. The doctor doing the op was very informative as well as considerate towards our feelings. The nurses looking after me before I went for the op were all lovely too. When I had to say goodbye to my boyfriend before the surgery I got very emotional and broke down, I was also very scared of being put to sleep and all the nurses in the prep room for the anaesthetic were amazing and looked after me and reassured me so well. Once I was awake they called my boyfriend straight away to give him an update of how I was doing and when he could come and see me. The hospital was so clean and tidy. Everybody there were so kind and friendly and really felt like they cared about the patients not just doing a job. Even the guys who wheeled me from the recovery room to the ward were friendly and respectful. I cannot thank the team that I had enough for making such a horrible experience as calming and reassuring as it could have been and I don't think I would be recovering both emotionally and physically as well as I am if it wasn't for you all so thank you so much.
"So thankful"
