"I would give this place zero stars if that were..."

About: North Middlesex Hospital / Accident and emergency

The receptionists at the desk were rude and very unhelpful. The waiting time for A&E is an absolute joke. Nobody is updated on the status of their progress so they can finally see a doctor. The waiting room is like limbo, a graveyard of afflicted individuals. Some of whom are expected to wait for five hours before their potentially life threatening condition can be assessed. No-one in this hospital care about patient well being at all. The A&E service is absolutely appalling. Patients are not respected, nor taken seriously with their grievances. I am astonished and disgusted that this place have the audacity to call themselves a fully functioning hospital.

Thanks for your feedback. Sorry that you felt that you waited too long in A&E. We have been making good progress over recent weeks in reducing waiting times and currently are seeing and treating 9/10 patients within the national target time of four hours, slightly below the national target. Our team triage all patients soon after arrival, usually within 15 minutes. Patients are then streamed and treated in order of clinical priority. I’m sorry that you felt receptionists were rude, however, there is a red, digital ticker-tape style display in A&E which indicates waiting time and we are currently upgrading this. Please contact me, I’m the matron of A&E, if you would like to discuss your issues any further: gemma.davies22@nhs.net
