"Maternity Unit & Delivery Suite"

About: Royal Albert Edward Infirmary / Maternity

I recently attended maternity triage due to contractions far too early in my pregnancy. I cannot fault the care I received from arriving and being assessed right through to leaving the following day. Although we are devastated at the loss of our baby, the midwives could not have been more comforting and reassuring during my stay. They kept us fully informed with what was happening and what to expect. There was no rush to go home and they would have allowed me to stay another night if that's what we wanted to do. I was then able to take my daughter to the Mortuary when I was ready, and again, I was able to do this in my own time. All of the midwives involved in my care were fantastic and a special thanks to one of the very rare real life Angel's. I really could not have got through it without them.

Thank you so much for contacting us with your kind comments about the Maternity staff and unit here at Wigan, even though this must be a difficult and sad time for you. May I take this opportunity to extend our sincere condolences to you and your family. I will ensure that this posting is seen by the Head of Nursing so she can ensure it is cascaded to the Maternity staff. Kind regards
