"Being discharged"

About: Leighton Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Being discharged

What could be improved

The food was poor and portion sizes were very small. I was left to eat the meal ordered by the last person to use the ward bed. Not good, I am a diabetic and luckily the food was suitable. Following the operation I was left without food for around 6 hours it was only when my husband phoned and spoke to the Sister that I was later given food. I was concerned that being a diabetic that I needed to eat. The Sister told my husband that I was on a glucose drip and this would control the sugar intake. The big issue is that nothing was communicate to me regarding this and left me very hungry and frustrated. It got worse I was asked to vacate my bed, not an issue as I understand that beds are need ed to move other patients through the care process. I then had to wait 2 1/2 hours for my tablets, again without food.

This surely cannot be regarded as good patient care. Being in Hospital itself is very stressful and not made any easier by uncaring staff.
