What I liked
I came into A&E with a fracture, I didnt have to wait too long to see a triage nurse who was very kind. I was x rayed and then had a temporary cast put on, everyone treated me with respect, the ladies in the plaster room were very cheerful, and made me comfortable. Thank you ladies for your ongoing support (scuse the pun). Thank you too to the nice lady who gave me a drink of water, she was a volunteer, I was very dry and it was most welcome.
What could be improved
On this visit nothing. As an overnight patient in 2008, a lot of things could have been improved, for that reason I would not choose to be an in patient at Stafford
Anything else?
The ladies who man the desks in outpatients could take a leaf out of x ray reception staffs' book, On x ray they a polite and apologise if you are kept waiting. In outpatients people are kept waiting for no real reason, and if there is one surely a an acknowledgement that you are there wouldnt hurt. Some of the poor people standing waiting dont even know what to do. A smile doesnt hurt when your unwell or dont know whats going to happen? The fracture team are all very helpful, and let you know if they are running late etc
