"Wonderful care in the Emergency Department"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Accident & Emergency

(as the patient),

I attended the Ayr ED after an unfortunate fall in the garden. I was in a bit of a mess, needing x rays, stitched and scans. I went to Ayr ED where I was quickly seen by a triage nurse who gave me immediate pain relief (which was greatly appreciated). Almost immediately I was seen and sorted by Paula who was just an absolute credit to the NHS. As a retired matron I am always so proud of the skills that can be achieved by nurses. My care was second to none. She had me in, assessed and sorted with great communication at every stage. I had unfortunately cut my lip open and once she had me stitched up she even found straws to help me drink and helped me to my sons car when I was ready for home.

It's always good to receive wonderful care but I think it is important to recognise when someone has gone above and beyond the call of duty.

Thank you so much for your care and attention. You are a credit to your profession and the NHS.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear ExMatron,

I am sorry you had a fall and needed our services, but very pleased you found your care to be second to none. I will make sure Paula and the team (and the bosses) get this post. It is so refreshing when people 'go the extra mile' and I am sure Paula will be very happy with your sentiments.

Thank you for taking the time to share this lovely accolade and I hope you are recovering from your injuries. (I suspect your mouth will hurt for a wee while, hopefully not too long).

Kind regards,

Eunice

Dear ExMatron,

This is Paula's response to your post -

'I remember this lady well. Can you pass on my kind regards and say I hope she is healing well and that she has been able to get back to enjoying her garden'.

Kind regards,

Eunice
