"Access to Sexual Health"

About: Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust / Sexual health services

(as the patient),

I have been calling every 5 minutes for the past 5 hours, and still nobody has answered the phone, so that I may book a check up. This is not the first time this has happened either... Surely access to sexual health services should be better than this? For some people, it is a big thing to pick up the phone, book an appointment and get tested, but with this amount of difficulty, I imagine many people will just give up and hope for the best! This is hardly going to improve the sexual health of the community, and I imagine, if anything, this will lead to a greater prevalence of ill health and a greater workload for the service. Surely more staff should be employed, so that someone is actually free to pick up the phone?

Dear Anytime,

Thank you for taking the time to write this post about the service you received when accessing Integrated Sexual Health Services. I am sorry that your experience was poor. Please be assured that your comments have been fed back to the service.

We are imminently putting in improvements to allow us to respond more effectively to periods of high calls including:

Staffing of an additional phone line A answer phone to allow patients to leave a message and receive a call back Introduction of software that will allow us to monitor the volume of incoming calls, and be able to staff in response to this

We will use your comments to develop and improve our future care and communications.

Kind regards
