"The staff were very friendly"

About: Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

The staff were very friendly

What could be improved

More staff - but thats not the fault of the staff who were on duty during my stay. They coped very well

Anything else?

My only negative comment would be that I was asked not to eat or drink after 8pm the previous evening. I was taken from the ward to the operating theatre at 2pm as scheduled. It was about 5 or 6pm when I finally felt myself again after the op and wasn't given anything to eat or drink until breakfast at around 9.15am the following morning. The only time I drank anything was when I was given pain killers. So I'd gone over 36 hours without anything to eat and was CRAVING a cuppa!! The restaurant, I was told, was closed and the sandwiches would probably be stale. I know its not a 24 hour service, but it would be nice if people who are later coming back from major op could be offered supper or something. But apart from that, my stay was comfortable and I'd recommend this hospital to everyone. Remember a packed lunch! :-)
