My brother was admitted overnight to CDU following a collapse with cardiac history. His consultant said he should be in the Coronary Care Unit but no beds were available. He was admitted for overnight monitoring of his heart rate, rhythm, etc and clinical observations. He never had a monitor fitted and he never had his blood pressure or pulse recorded all night, in fact he said the night nurse never spoke to him. This happened on 1st September 2016. If this is the Trusts idea of care and observation, they need a big wake up call. Quite disgusting. I am a recently retired critical care nurse and ashamed if this is what they consider careful monitoring of an acutely unwell and frightened patient.
"Overnight observations minus the observations."
