My husband was admitted by ambulance with a suspected stroke having suffered his first one 4 years ago. We were told a scan would be organised, I have read NHS guidelines say should be given in 24hrs, however he was discharged 7 hrs later with no scan, no bed despite being told he was to be admitted to ward. I felt like no info was given to us after chasing round hospital for 20mins. A nurse found his file told me he was referred to TIA clinic and an appointment was sent to our home. We went to the GP 2days later who explained don’t worry, a scan appointment will be sent within days. The next day I phoned x-ray to find out when apt would be they didn’t know anything. I was put back to emergency response unit as clerical staff were on holiday Friday and Monday. I phoned back Tuesday morning to see if it could be hurried on but 1 week later still no scan. What’s all the adverts about FAST get patient to hospital ASAP? We are now waiting to see the GP to ask him to sort it out as we feel like we’re being given the runaround
